Cinnamon Improve Learning Ability

Cinnamon has a delicious flavor is usually used as an addition to toast and coffee. But did you know that cinnamon may also improve learning ability?

Results of a study conducted by neuroscientists at Rush University Medical Center, found that mice in the laboratory initially had poor study skills, but after being fed cinnamon, he also has a good learning ability.

"This is the most secure and easiest to change poor students to be good," said the study's lead researcher, Kalipada Pahan, PhD, and Floyd A. Davis, professor of neurology at Rush.

The researchers explained that some people are born has a good learning ability, there is also a good student with business, and some find it difficult to learn new things, even with the effort though, quoted by ScienceDaily, Wednesday (20/07/2016) ,

"Understanding the brain mechanisms that lead to diminished learning ability, very important to develop effective strategies for improving memory and learning abilities," said Pahan.

The mechanism of the development of the brains of mice in the study is that, when mice were fed cinnamon, their bodies produce sodium benzoate, which is a chemical used as a therapeutic drug for brain damage.

When the sodium benzoate into the brains of mice, they increase CREB (protein associated with memory and learning) and reduce GABRA5 (proteins that inhibit the performance of the brain).

The researchers found that these mice had increased memory and ability to learn better. But they found no significant increase among students was good, with cinnamon.

"Individual differences in learning and performance in education, is a global issue. We need to test this approach further on participants who are less good at learning. If the results can be applied to students who lack a good ability to learn, it will be something that incredible, "said Pahan.
