Switchel, The Latest Health Drink?

When you think've tried all kinds of health drink that is becoming a trend, there is a new drink again. Switchel - also known as the Haymaker's punch - is a combination of apple cider vinegar, ginger, water, and maple syrup to give a sweet taste in the combination. Sounds interesting, but is it true that this drink is beneficial to your health?

Bonnie Taub-Dix, RDN, the site's founder and author BetterThanDieting.com Read it Before You Eat It, said the drink was mediocre.

"Some of the beverage ingredients can make you feel better - like ginger that can make your stomach more stable and prevent nausea after exercise, and apple vinegar associated with gastrointestinal treatment, detox agent, and benefits for those who have diabetes, "says Taub-Dix.

"And then there's the maple syrup, which seemed to give the feeling of making a better day with Mom artificial pancake breakfast," he continued.

Drinking Switchel certainly make it easier to get the benefits of apple cider vinegar, because anyone who has ever tried it certainly will not resist the urge to vomit it back.

"This drink contains 50 calories or more on setian 8 ounces," says Taub-Dix, which is derived from adding the sweet taste of maple syrup. In fact, one glass Switchel could easily contain up to 17 grams of sugar.

Therefore, a Director of the Good Housekeeping Institute Nutrition, Jaclyn London, R.D., advised not to drink it. "This is a sugary drink, disguised as a health drink because of the content of cider vinegar and ginger-both of which are a super food," he said, as reported by Goodhousekeeping, Thursday (08/04/2016).

"Better that you blend both these great ingredients as much as one or two tablespoons of salad dressing you. "
